Molotov and Samsung Electronics France Sign Strategic Partnership

A single app for watching TV freely and easily on all Samsung “screens”


Paris, 6th January 2016 — Molotov, the TV distribution platform created by Jean-David Blanc and Pierre Lescure, and Samsung Electronics France, the consumer electronics leader, have today announced a unique partnership.



Molotov, which will officially launch its service in early 2016, will now become available across the entire Samsung product range sold in France: Smart TV, tablets and mobiles, as well as a specific product designed exclusively for the Gear S2 watch platform. Combining technological excellence and access to TV content via a single app, the agreement is the first of its kind and will create a consistent television viewing experience from one Samsung device to another.


Samsung Electronics France will also be demonstrating Molotov’s new service at various trade and consumer shows, as well as at points of sale and other demonstration sites.


Molotov itself offers its users live TV access and a “catch-up” service from any device, which highlights its visually intuitive way to watch and discover television programmes. “Bookmarking” (a mix of notifications, information and advance recording function) is offered with navigation possible by channel, programme type, or by those featured in the show (searchable by directors, presenters, actors, guests, historical figures, etc.) This form of interface allows the user to discover programmes they never knew existed or which they could have easily missed. Users can also share their own television experiences via a wide range of social media functions.
